1. Cards and app
Ammer Card is a secure hardware wallet and a crypto-only payment card. It is based on the same technology that banks use for their cards. Ammer Card supports cryptocurrencies and NFTs on various blockchains including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Celo, Polygon (full list is available in the Ammer Wallet app).
Ammer Wallet is the companion app to Ammer Card. With the app, you can activate your Ammer Card, manage and transfer your assets. Also, in Ammer Wallet you can create up to 3 virtual cards that are software wallets that supports NFC payments.
- Ammer Card is a non-custodial hardware wallet that stores your crypto keys.
- Virtual cards in Ammer Wallet serve as a software wallet, and the keys are stored in your mobile device.
- Unlike bank cards, your Ammer Card belongs to you, not the bank.
- Neither Ammer card, nor virtual cards are bank cards, and there isn't any kind of fiat account associated with them. However, they look like a traditional bank card to provide you with a familiar experience.
- When you pay with your Ammer Card or a virtual card, you pay directly in your crypto on blockchain without any kind conversion to fiat.
- Unlike bank cards, Ammer and virtual cards are accepted only by the merchants in the Ammer Pay network (both in stores and online).
- You can have as many Ammer Cards as you'd like. However, you can only have 3 virtual cards in your Ammer Wallet.
You can use Ammer Cards and virtual cards for free.
On the main screen of Ammer Wallet, press [+ Manage assets]. You will see tabs — one per each supported blockchain. Choose the assets you need, and then confirm your selection. The assets will appear on the main screen.
2. Security and backups
Ammer Card stores your private keys in the smart card's secure element. The keys are generated in the chip at the moment you activate your card using your phone. The keys never leave the card. As for Ammer Wallet, private keys of your virtual cards (software wallets) are stored in the secure cryptoprocessor of your smartphone.
When you receive a new Ammer Card, you should activate it (that is, create private keys) using your phone. During activation, you are asked to create and confirm your PIN for the card, which you should remember. In the improbable event that during activation you are asked to enter the card's PIN (instead of setting it), please contact Ammer Wallet support.
Ammer Card stores your private keys. So, unfortunately, if you lose your card, you lose all the assets stored on it (unless you have a backup), as it happens with cash. This is why we say that Ammer Card is crypto in the form of cash. However, compared to cash, nobody will be able to spend your assets unless they know your PIN.

Ammer Wallet stores private keys of your virtual cards in your smartphone and nowhere else. You can make backup of your virtual card in the card's settings menu. If you lose your Ammer Wallet app or phone without making a backup beforehand, then, unfortunately, your assets will be gone.
Select the card you want to back up. Open the card's settings (tap the 3 dots or the settings icon). In the 'Card settings' section tap 'Export private key'. You will see a long string of numbers and letters. This is your private key. Keep it safe! Please note that you can make a backup of your physical Ammer Card only once.
You can back up the private key of your card in the card's settings menu. Ammer Wallet does not provide seed phrases.
Ammer Wallet is based on the secure smart cards banks use for their payment cards. They support top-level cryptography engines with full key length. The card hardware is Common Criteria EAL 6+ and EMVCo certified and compliant with ISO/IEC7816 and ISO/IEC14443.
If you enter a wrong PIN 3 times, your card will be permanently locked, and you won't be able to use it anymore.
3. Payments and partner stores
You can pay with your Ammer Card in shops that accept Ammer Pay. At the moment, we have partners in Switzerland, and we are working on expanding Ammer Pay network. Please, follow us on social media for updates.
You cannot, because Ammer Card is an innovative crypto-only payment card, and most stores accept only fiat-backed bank cards. However, you can pay with Ammer Card in the stores of our partners that joined our Ammer Pay network.
At the moment, Ammer Card is not supported by the common terminals you can find in stores. Ammer Cards are supported by Ammer Pay terminals, though.
Neither Ammer Card nor virtual cards in Ammer Wallet have expiration date or CVC/CVV. They are basically hardware and software wallets respectively, and none of these things apply to them.
4. Exchange to fiat
We are working on making on- and off-ramp easy and fast. Meanwhile, you may, for example, transfer and sell your crypto at an exchange and then transfer fiat to your account.
